Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), a mutual life insurance company that provides financial protection, retirement, and investment solutions, has announced the appointment of David Long, former Chairman and CEO of Liberty Mutual Insurance, to its Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

Long spent nearly 40 years at Liberty Mutual, joining in 1985 and holding various leadership positions, including President in 2010, CEO in 2011, and Chairman in 2013.<\/p>\n
During his time as CEO, Liberty Mutual expanded its global presence and moved forward with several acquisitions. He stepped down as CEO in January 2023 and retired as Chairman and Director in April 2025.<\/p>\n
While at Liberty Mutual, Long also oversaw the company\u2019s philanthropic efforts, which included financial contributions to community programmes. He also serves on the boards of Eversource Energy and Ford\u2019s Theatre in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n Long holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in mathematics from Hartwick College and a master\u2019s degree in finance from Boston College.
