Tim Sweeney, Chairman and CEO of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has announced that Gordon Watson has been elected to the company’s board of directors.

Liberty Mutual Insurance logoWatson brings over three decades of experience in the insurance sector. He recently served as Chair of AXA Asia and CEO of AXA Asia & Africa, where he led operations across 18 countries and spearheaded transformation efforts.

Prior to that, Watson was Regional Chief Executive at AIA. He also served as Global Executive Vice Chairman / Regional CEO and Chairman Japan, ALICO at AIG.

Watson is also an advocate for mental health. He serves on the board of OneMind, a U.S.-based nonprofit organisation focused on improving mental health, co-led the development of the Mental Health at Work Index with Columbia University, and is the founding Chair of Shared Value Initiative Hong Kong and co-founder of MiYA.
